My Approach to Women’s Health and Wellness
The Fertility & Flow Foundations
A Simple, Sustainable Approach to Women’s Health
Feeling vibrant, energized, and in tune with your body doesn’t have to be complicated or out of reach. In my work as a certified nutritionist and women’s health coach, I believe that simple, sustainable nutrition and lifestyle changes can have a profound impact on hormonal balance, fertility, and overall well-being.
True health is built through small, consistent habits. Start with one change at a time and allow it to become part of your daily routine. Consistency—not perfection—is what creates lasting results. As you begin to incorporate new habits, remember to lead with self-compassion, grace, and patience.
What Are the Fertility & Flow Foundations?
The Fertility & Flow Foundations are the core lifestyle practices that support hormone health, menstrual cycle balance, and whole-body wellness. While they may not be as flashy as fad diets or quick-fix supplements, these foundational habits are the true building blocks of long-term health.
Once these foundations are established and feel sustainable, you can layer in additional supportive practices such as:
Seed cycling
Targeted supplementation
Mindfulness
Joyful connections
But first, we focus on the basics.
The Five Fertility & Flow Foundations
1. Hydration
Our bodies are primarily made of water, making hydration essential for optimal health and hormonal function. Proper hydration supports the body by:
Maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance
Regulating body temperature
Supporting healthy blood volume
Transporting nutrients and hormones
Assisting with detoxification of metabolic waste
Staying consistently hydrated is one of the simplest ways to support energy, digestion, and hormone balance.
2. Nourishment
Your body needs adequate fuel to function at its best. Nourishment means consuming enough macronutrients and micronutrients to support your hormones, metabolism, and nervous system.
Macronutrients include:
Protein
Healthy fats
Carbohydrates
Micronutrients include:
Vitamins
Minerals
Balanced meals help stabilize blood sugar, support reproductive hormones, and promote sustained energy throughout the day.
3. Sleep
Sleep is a cornerstone of women’s health. It plays a critical role in regulating the circadian rhythm, which governs many hormones, including cortisol and melatonin.
Chronic sleep deprivation increases stress on the body and can contribute to hormonal imbalances over time. Improving sleep hygiene or creating a calming evening routine can dramatically support:
Hormonal regulation
Energy levels
Mood
Immune function
Resilience
4. Movement
Our bodies are designed to move, not sit for long periods of time. Regular movement supports circulation, metabolism, lymphatic drainage, and stress regulation.
All movement counts:
Walking, running, cycling, swimming, dancing
Strength training
Pilates, barre, and yoga
Calisthenics
Even small moments of movement add up—walking around the block, dancing to a song, or doing a few push-ups while your coffee brews. Consistency matters more than intensity, especially when starting to incorporate movement into your routine.
5. Sunlight
In many ways, we are like plants—we need sunlight to thrive. Sun exposure helps regulate the circadian rhythm and supports natural energy cycles throughout the day.
Morning sunlight helps signal wakefulness and alertness. It also supports healthy cortisol and melatonin patterns. Sunlight has also been shown to help reduce inflammation and support mood.
Challenge: Try to get outside for 10–15 minutes in the morning, ideally soon after waking. If possible, combine sunlight with gentle movement, such as a short walk. Even sitting outside with your favorite morning beverage offers powerful benefits—yes, even on cloudy days.
